Open system - Sanyasin

Open System are Michael Martin and Matt Hillier.

The two decided to combine forces in 2003 and work on an ethno-ambient-idm project, reflecting their love of those genres. They were joined by Jake Stephenson in 2003 before his untimely death in 2005.

Their album Sanyasin is a culmination of 7 years of work. It features edits from ambient jam sessions the 3 recorded in Jake's studio, and also many field recordings Michael made on a trip to India in 2007 culminating in a series of beautiful, shimmering, cinematic soundscapes - lovingly crafted and ideal for late night horizontal headphone listening…

Chandanam - Whispers of the silent colors

' Whispers of the silent colors ' is the first release by Lithuanian composer Adomas Simkunas as ' Chandanam ' and the second in a series of ' private pressings ' to be released by Virtual of composers works which we feel vibrate in sympathy with the labels vision and which have inspired us in some way.

The album is a wonderfull mix of aquatic and acoustic sounds and field recordings , synthetic textures and evocative timbres which all help to conjure up a fluid like world of microscopic aquatic life and riverside landscapes.

Water seems to be a large part of the albums elemental nature and as a musical work it flows and drifts in a sublime way .

'The Dance Of Affinity' is the first release by swedish composer Björn Ekegren as 'Sinepearl ' and the first in a series of ' private pressings ' to be released by Virtual of composers works which we feel vibrate in sympathy with the labels vision and which have inspired us in some way.

The turning of the seasons and the still presence of nature aswell as the landscape and countryside Bjorn lives in have all contributed to the spirit of the album and essence it captures and shares and the result is a beautifull mix of meditative ambient and soundscape composition with an organic tone and a unique character and quality all of its own.

Ishq - Fluid earth

When we released 'Orchid' as an album on Interchill records it was also released as a 2 cd limited edition on Dakini records in Japan and throughout asia.Many people are unaware of the 2nd cd or this version of Orchid and so we are making the 2nd cd from the Dakini release available on a seperate cd of its own as an album called ' Fluid Earth ' which was to be its name originally when we wrote the tracks.

Vr04 - Emerald

Released today is 'Emerald ' by Elve another alter ego of Ishq.

This is the 4th release in the Virtualworld series and follows on from the first Elve album as a continous ambient soundscape which could be said to have a more tropical feel than the last Elve album.If the first album ' Infinite garden' was set in the english countryside then this one is set in some far distant tropical rainforest or to that effect.

As with all the Virtualworld series of releases the album was written with immersive headphone listeners in mind and sounds best on high definition headphones or hifi systems .It probably not best to describe this as ambient chill as the idea is to create moments of slight intensity aswell as moments of release in these works and so expect a ride .Its invocative music really and also more about painting a landscape with sound and stimulating the senses aswell as chilling them.

Hi folks

just a quick update to say firstly due to some web provider ' issues ' we now have switched for a while to

On the music front we have now being mastered a full length album as Ishq of mellow melodic music and full of eastern promise which is to be released by electronic soundscapes very very soon and called 'Sama ' .The music has left the studio which means its close to release......

On the virtual front we are close again to releasing , we had to put pack some albums due to the whole meltdown and economics of things and us feeling they needed more work and also suit the winter months more as releases but its all positive and were about 1 week away now from sending off a new Elve album for pressing of lush green soundscapes which has come out of the blue and is beautifully organic and emerald like and we also have the first Virtual forms release ready to press .We have a huge backlog of other material now also close to mastering and so releasing its now the main focus.

For now thats it but expect the unexpected and sorry were so sporadic with new music releases .Theres a new wave of both Virtual and Ishq music on the way.

The first release on our Virtual space series is due back any day from pressing.

This album was written about 1 month before Orchid was completed and originally ' found its way ' onto the web as a rough and ready demo version in mp3. Since then we had a few people ask us to release it as a finished version and on audio cd with artwork and so here it is.We have reworked and now finished this album fully and added new layers and mastered the original recording .The result is a beautifully deep and nebula ambient work and journey into a cosmos of monolithic shapes and space geometry.

Vr03 - Visions of Surya

This is the third album in the Virtualworld series and first collaborative work between Matt hillier and Jake stephenson on Virtual . Some may know Jakes musical work as Optic eye and Optica aswell as lots of other colourfull alter egos in the 90's . Jake passed away some years ago and this work was the last music he wrote with matt as Colourform ( which was to be there new project name )

The music itself is very colourfull and created as an imaginary series of Pipe dreams someone has when visiting an exotic distant land.The album has an exotic eastern feel and Kaleidascopic like quality and follows on in style and form from the previous 2 Virtual albums.

This release is dedicated to jake and released in his memory , he was very instrumental in encouraging us to make music and sold us our first synth and got us signed to our first label and so there would probably be no Ishq without him in some respect.

As a label Virtual now has 5 seperate series called

Virtualworld , Virtualform , Virtualspace , Virtualight , and Ishq.

The 5 series we hope will mean people can quickly relate to the different work were doing as its quite variable in musical style.

The Virtualworld series takes care of the detailed and complex soundscapes / music releases and is the main series and part of Virtual .To date this series has releases , Magik square of the sun and Infinite garden.

Virtual form will release the harmonising electrified forms of Ishq ( Ishqs contemporary sound sculpture work aswell as more contempory ambient electronica )

Virtual light will release Holistic music for meditation and contemplation of Ishq

Virtual space will release our deeper space music.

Ishq will host all future major Ishq albums and collaborations ( Orchid being the first album relative to these )
